Thanks to our good friend George K. and our new friend Giorgos V. we could add another island to our trip. And thanks to them, we also discover “To Tsikali” taverna on Vathi Beach.
We can count this restaurant into our top 3 of favorite places we have eaten during this trip.
Since 1983 Nikolaos Frazeskaros runs with his wife Flora and two sons Dimitris and Giorgos this pieds dans l’eau restaurant in the dreamy bay of Vathi. Nikos has his own farm where he breads chickens, rabbits and goats…”the best meat on the island!” says this overly-friendly chef.
He cooks this magic meat for hours in a special sauce made with wine and herbs… Everything that comes on the table, from the home-made cheeses, to the home-made spinach pies and keftedes…. is heavenly.
In the deep of winter, I will think back of this lovely taverna and its family…. and the glorious food of course.
