This is not a pretty picture but this is the cold reality on Svalbard. It is a 16-year old dead male polar bear. The cause of death is unknown. The Norwegian Polar Institute still has to go and examine if the bear died of starvation, desease or something else. We can only look at it and hope it is not a cause of global warming that is taking the natural habitat of these animals slowly (or fast?) away. Because it is a fact that the Arctic ice is melting, disappearing, or retreating too fast. But as long as the experts do not come in to investigate, we don’t know what this bear took down in the middle of his walk on this green, mossy patch of land near Vegas Bar Bay.
