The red rocks of Ikh Nart Nature Reserve lights up during sun set. This is one of those regions in Mongolia that most tourists skip. Good for us because we have the feeling we have this protected reserve all to ourselves. The reason why the few travellers come here is for the vast emptiness, spotting argali and ibex sheep, wolves, foxes, gazelles and pallas’s cats and if you are lucky a Siberian lynx. It feels a bit like going on a safari in Africa except we are staying in gers in the Red Rock ger camp operated by our partner on this trip Nomadic Journeys.
