You better believe me if I tell you that road tripping in Mongolia can be challenging. Well there aren’t many paved road in Mongolia so you have to settle with dusty, potholed off track routes that require a good 4×4. If not availalbe, do not eat too much and if you can take a sleeping pill. Which is a shame considering the stunning landscape you are driving through. So the only solution is another mode of transport. In this case the train. We enjoyed our 7-hours ride back from Shevigobi to UB. Cosy and warm in our sleeping bags until the sun wakes you up and announces arrival back in UB. In our opinion, taking trains in Mongolia is a good alternative of the many road trips.
