These trees look like fingers reaching out from the depths of the earth, maybe asking for a sip of water? These are the two most iconic shots in Sossusvlei in de Namib Dessert. The star dunes are shot early in the morning when the shadows are hard and pronounced and the scorched trees scattered throughout the valley. There are only two camps with private access to the National Park and that is Kulala Desert Lodge and Little Kulala, the more luxurious alternative. This private access means you can be the first to head to the dunes and there is no queuing at the gate. The dune you see on the picture is Big Daddy, one of the few dunes where you are allowed to climb on. Only for the couragious of course.
