What does one get when you pay 14 euro per person in a restaurant? In Portugal, more specifically in the village of Carrasqueira in the Alentejo region, you get a lot. Let’s start with a huge pot of freshly made Enguias, small, fresh-water eals, in a stew of tomato, potato, onions, garlic…. You throw some toasted bread in the pot and let it soak… So this huge dish, with 1,5 liter of wine and as a starter some olives and local cheese… for 28 euro… Not bad if you ask me. Try it yourself at the restaurant and bar Frango Assado, where they grill amazing fish and meat for lunch too. 1,8 euro for a litro of vino to accompany your dish. Enjoy!
