Jodhpur is a sea of blue and watched by impressive forts looking out over this second biggest city of Rajasthan. It’s an enigmatic place with a vibrant town centre with shops selling spices, textile and jewellery and a market where cheap souvenirs can be bought. The Mehrangarh Fort dangles 100 metres above the city and it offers an impressive view over the sea of blue houses. Apparently the colour blue was chose because it can better stand the heat than the original, darker mud colour of the houses, and blue is cleaner than white, especially when another sand storm hits the city. Blue also scares away mosquitoes, so I am told. Amazing the thing you learn while standing on top of a fort and looking out over incredible India.
