While most airlines are giving less and less (service, extras, smiles, comfort) to the “normal” traveler, meaning those not flying business or carrying a gold card with diamonds on top,…. Canadian Porter Airlines is an exception. Their base is Toronto Billy Bishop Airport City Airport, smack in the river and only a 20 minutes walk from downtown Toronto. Yes you heard me right, WALK. We liked the smiling threesome of ladies who offered us our boarding passes and checked us in. For once, having to hand in your bottle of water won’t cost you 5 euro+ after security because Porter Airlines offers a lounge for every passenger flying with them. Yes, a free lounge with drinks, coffee, cookies, wi-fi, business center,…. for everybody. Need I say more? The airplanes of Porter, Bombardier Q400s, are stylish, like a private jet with gray leather seats, lots of leg-room, again free drinks (even alcohol) and snack on board and RE: Porter the very nice inflight magazine. Published by Tyler Brule, our boss @ Monocle. His company Winkreative branded the airline, designed even the Mr. Porter logo, the friendly raccoon of Porter Airlines. Why can’t a savvy businessman start an airline like this chez nous? And please, choose your base in Belgium? Or even better, take Antwerp en forget about Brussels! Did you hear me Mr. Porter?
