Flying to Russia's extreme east, Anadyr - Kamchatka © 2014 . All rights reserved.

It’s the end of the world, as we know it. Literary speaking. Flying from Europe to the far end of Russia, to Anadyr in Chukotka, is like traveling to the edge of the world. The far east of Russia is, well, far and only a vicious Bering Strait away from Alaska. It’s here where we embark on a month long voyages with L’Austral, an expedition ship owned by Ponant, the French cruise company we like and love and with whom we also discovered the Panama Canal in 2012.
Not only Chutkotka is on our itinerary, but also Kamchatka, the Kouriles and Sakhalin islands and ending our trip in Japan. This is not a Love Boat voyage, but an expedition cruise during which we hopefully will experience the best of this remote corner of the world. Volcanoes, bears, whales, small settlements, Russian lifestyle and hopefully a couple of kilos salmon roe en top of that. Privét Russia!
