It’s been more than 2 decades ago Istanbul completely disappeared under a blanket of snow. Fierce snowstorms raged this week over the Bosporus, covering palm trees and turning the Blue Mosque into a white one. A surreal landscape appeared in between snow spells. The traffic slowed down, almost came to a stop. Istanbul was white, tranquil, and virgin-like. We snapped some pictures in front of the Ayasofia in Sultanahmet. The simit sellers stayed put, didn’t move a meter when horizontal snow showers hit his food cart. When the sun peaked through the grey clouds, it was business as usual again. Except of the snowball fights and snowman builders on every square and in every street. Istanbul felt today like a kid again.
