After picking up our robust Hilux 4×4 rented via our trusted car rental partner Sunny Cars (great rates, no hassle 100% everything included) we are on our way.

Our packing list included also some essentials which can be handy on the road. On our iPad we have the offline gps from tracks4africa, unmissable when you are road tripping in Africa.

We immediately bought a sim-card from MTN with a 15gig data bundle for less then 35euro. South Africa has fairly good 3G coverage and lots of hotels still have bad internet connection.

The sun is out, The sky is blue, and our first stop is Babylonstoren in the Winelands. We initially wanted to stay here but alas it wasn’t possible so we went for a quick tour of the house of this rather stylish property and have a peek in the restaurant and cool farmer shop.

Our first night in Africa we spend in the quintessential Bartholomeus Klip farm house. The perfect setting for a travel gadget feature we have to do for Elle USA.
